If you do any shopping around the holidays I am sure you have seen the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles and accompanying bell ringers. For those able to donate we thank you for your contribution.
For those unable to donate at this time, we understand, we would like to wish you Happy Holidays and throw a smile your way anyway.
Do you know where the red kettle contributions go? Let me take a moment to educate you! The Salvation Army Red kettles originated in 1891 in San Francisco.
Today the Salvation Army assists more than four-and-a-half million people in The United States during Thanksgiving and Christmas with meals, new clothing, and toys. The idea of the Red Kettle has spread worldwide and the contributions enable the organization to help those in need year round.
Realtor® Ring Day, a single day where real estate agents, affiliates, friends, and family take over ringing the bells originated in Fargo, North Dakota in 2010. There was an agent that sought to provide volunteer opportunities for real estate professionals that related to what we know best: housing. The Housing and Homeless Services Programs the Salvation Army offers made it the obvious organization to partner with. It has since spread to 26 states and continues to grow every year.
Volunteers representing the Bismarck Mandan Board of Realtors® work hard to raise funds on Realtor® Ring Day. We are proud of the fact that the last two years we raised the most contributions for the Salvation Army on this day. We want to thank you and hope we achieved record contributions again this year. Happy Holidays!!
